Welcome to the 23rd Lancefield International Symposium on Streptococci and Streptococcal Diseases (LISSSD 2027)

It is our great pleasure to welcome delegates from across the world to Cyprus for the Lancefield International Symposium on Streptococci and Streptococcal Diseases 2027.

Set at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Cyprus provides an ideal setting for international scientific exchange, collaboration, and friendship. We are delighted to host researchers, clinicians, microbiologists, public health experts, trainees, and industry partners united by a shared commitment to advancing the understanding and control of streptococcal diseases.

This conference continues the distinguished scientific legacy of Professor Rebecca Lancefield, whose pioneering contributions transformed the field of streptococcal research. Over the course of the conference, we look forward to sharing the latest discoveries in basic science, epidemiology, diagnostics, vaccines, antimicrobial resistance, clinical management, and prevention strategies. Equally important, this meeting provides an opportunity to strengthen international collaborations, foster new partnerships, and support the next generation of investigators in the field.

Beyond the scientific programme, we hope you will enjoy the renowned hospitality, history, culture, and Mediterranean spirit of Cyprus while building new collaborations and strengthening longstanding partnerships within our global community.

Thank you for joining us for Lancefield 2027. We wish you an inspiring, productive, and memorable conference.
