Professor Androulla Efstratiou

Professor Androulla Efstratiou is the Director of the WHO Global Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Diphtheria and Streptococcal Infections and Consultant Public Health Microbiologist at the  UK Health Security Agency.

She is a Professor to the Faculty of Medicine, European University School of Medicine and the University of Cyprus Medical School. Other key appointments include; WHO consultancy and advisory roles on national and international committees for infectious diseases notably diphtheria, streptococcal diseases and invasive bacterial diseases.

Current Co-Chair of the 23rd Lancefield International Symposium on Streptococci and Streptococcal Diseases November 2027. She has more than 300 publications within the field of diphtheria, streptococcal infections and other areas in public health and infectious disease including key contributions to two current WHO Manuals (Laboratory Diagnosis of Diphtheria; Laboratory Diagnosis of Invasive Bacterial Diseases).
